Basement Floor

Feature: Basement floors to be 6-bag mix concrete poured 4” thick over a 4” to 6” washed aggregate base and moisture membrane (heavy sheet of polyethylene plastic). Walkout basements floors will reinforced and backfiled with washed aggregate on the inside of the foundation walls and reinforced to reduce stress-induced seteling and cracking. Garage and basement floors to include floor drains.
Benefit: The moisture membrane and washed aggregrate base provide a base to manage substructure moisture and water. In walkout basements where loads are more concentrated, the gravel backfilling and reinforcement help prevent settling and cracking of the slab.
